Tesla Wins U.S. Luxury Car Sales In First Half, Registrations Up 61% Year-over-year

Recently, the data showed that in the first half of 2022, Tesla's U.S. new car registrations increased to 228,989 units from 142,543 units in the same period last year, an increase of 61%, beating BMW to become the top luxury car sales in the United States in the first half.

The California New Car Dealers Association released its vehicle registration data for the second quarter of 2022, showing that the Tesla Model Y was the best-selling vehicle in California with 42,320 registrations in the first half of the year; the Tesla Model 3 came in second place with 38,993 sales. The Tesla Model Y outsold the luxury Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class (7,856 units) and the BMW X3 (5,364 units) in the SUV rankings.

It is worth mentioning that on August 14, Musk tweeted to congratulate Tesla on the 1 millionth vehicle rolled out of its Shanghai factory, and Tesla has now surpassed the global production mark of 3 million vehicles.
